Volunteer Recruitment

Volunteer firefighting is a very rewarding and valuable way to serve your community. It takes dedication and many hours of training to become a firefighter. If you're willing to put in the time and effort, the Anderson Fire Protection District can use your help.

The basic steps to becoming a volunteer firefighter:

  1. Make sure you're ready to commit. Making the decision to become a volunteer firefighter should not be taken lightly. It requires hundreds of hours of training and a strong commitment to service.

  2. Contact the Anderson Fire District, and speak with any staff member to obtain an application. Tell them that you're interested in becoming a volunteer and ask what your next step should be.

  3. You will need to complete an application.
Once the application is completed, you will be scheduled for an oral interview. After the interview process and you are chosen as a volunteer, you will be sent for a drug test and background check and later scheduled for a physical.

After you join, you will enter a training program. The program will start with the basics and gradually become more advanced and challenging.
